What a kitchen remodel actually involves
Most kitchens in Ashburn, Brambleton and Broadlands were built to a builder-grade spec: a peninsula that blocks traffic, a soffit dropped over the wall cabinets, and a pantry too shallow to be useful. Opening the room up usually means more than cabinets. It means checking whether the wall you want gone is load-bearing, sizing a beam or header for it, and moving plumbing, gas and circuits to match the new layout.
We work through those questions before demolition, not during it. That includes confirming what the county will want to see, pulling the permit, and scheduling the framing, rough-in and final inspections so they do not stall the finish work.
Cabinetry, counters and the finish details
We install semi-custom and custom cabinetry and coordinate directly with your fabricator on templating, seam placement and overhang so the counters land right the first time. Where a kitchen calls for something built rather than ordered — a full-height island panel, a hood surround, a coffered or beamed ceiling, a run of open shelving in reclaimed timber — that is carpentry we do ourselves.
The details that make a kitchen feel finished are usually the small ones: under-cabinet lighting wired to its own switch, a properly vented range hood, filler strips scribed to an out-of-plumb wall, and trim that dies cleanly into the adjoining rooms.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?
A cabinet-and-counter refresh in an unchanged layout is usually three to five weeks on site. Once you are moving walls, relocating plumbing or adding a beam, plan on eight to twelve weeks from demolition to final walk-through — cabinetry lead time is often the longest single item, and we order it before we start swinging hammers.
Do I need a permit to remodel a kitchen in Loudoun County?
Cosmetic work like replacing cabinets in place generally does not. Anything structural, or any change to plumbing, gas or electrical circuits, does. We pull the permit, post it, meet each inspector and hand you the closed-out paperwork at the end — it matters when you sell.
Can we stay in the house during the work?
Almost everyone does. We set up dust protection and a temporary kitchen area, keep the work zone contained, and tell you in advance which days you will be without water or power so you can plan around them.
Do you provide the design, or do I need my own?
Either works. If you already have plans or a designer, we build to them. If you do not, we will work through the layout with you and bring in a designer or draftsman where the project needs drawings for permitting.
